I’ve long had my problems with the tirelessly abrasive Abe Foxman (head of the Anti-Defamation League), but I’m glad he’s making noise about Rush Limbaugh’s recent “bankers=Jews” comments. To be exact, Limbaugh said this:
To some people, banker is a code word for Jewish; and guess who Obama is assaulting? He’s assaulting bankers. He’s assaulting money people. And a lot of those people on Wall Street are Jewish. So I wonder if there’s—if there’s starting to be some buyer’s remorse there…
To which Foxman replied, in an ADL press release:
Rush Limbaugh reached a new low with his borderline anti-Semitic comments about Jews as bankers, their supposed influence on Wall Street, and how they vote.
Now, I don’t know if this is necessarily a new low for Limbaugh, but there are only so many times we can tell ourselves to ignore the blowhard conservative pundits lest we provide more oxygen for the flames. The fire is out of control, people, and we better start doing something (I’m not sure what, exactly… this shit just leaves me catatonically depressed).
You ASSHAT! Rush never uttered one anti-semitic word in his long tenure on Radio or TV. I think you should KNOW what he said. Abe Foxman is a “putz” and misrepresented what Rush said and was expressing. Norman Podhoretz has already taken him to task for this LIE.
Nice layout for your blog. Your content SUCKS and is not accurate.
I’m Jewish and was listening to Rush when he supposedly made the anti-Semantic comments Foxman has attributed to him. Foxman is a liar
Did you bother to listen to Limbaugh’s comments yourself or did you simply take them out of context and write this drivel because you don’t like his political views?
If you had read the transcript, or better yet listened to the broadcast, Limbaugh on two different occasions prefaced his remarks about “Some people..” as “Prejudiced people.” Interesting that wasn’t printed in the quotes of Abe Foxman’s rant, or for that matter, this guy’s (Johnny Diamond). I guess it’s easier to write when you throw the facts to the wind.
I’m a proud Jewish American and Zionist. I am seond to none in defending the Jewish people and Zionism. Over a dozen members of my paternal grandmother’s family died in the Holocaust and many from the same branch of my family were born and continue to live in Israel (at least 4 generations worth). Members of this branch of my family, including my father, have served with distinction in the armed forces of the U.S., Israel and Poland. I heard Limbaugh make the statements you consider offensive–I find them totally unoffensive and true. I applaud Limbaugh on his statement and I wish more of my fellow Jews would heed his wake-up call. Limbaugh was referring to the true anti-Semites regarding “bankers,” not his own views. As for Foxman, he has taken a once-great organization and run it into the ground. His defamation of Limbaugh is only one example of the incompetence and arrogance of the ADL. Recently, ADL falsely claimed credit for remedying the Egyptian exclusion of two Israeli physicians from a Susan G. Komen conference–a lie as the two physicians did not attend and Egypt suffered no consequences. Last year ADL refused to honor my request to investigate and anti-Israel demonstration promoted by a New York City public high school. With the help of a real pro-Israel organization I was able to uncover the source of the problem and engage the NYC Public Schools in a dialogue which is leading to a constructive remedy. Yes, there are some anti-Semites on the right, e.g., Patrick Buchanan, Ann Coulter and Mel Gibson. But they are dwarfed by the huge number of anti-Semitic leftists who have joined hands for 4 decades with radical Islam.
