Julie Mehretu, the outstanding Ethiopian-American artist whose sprawling, swirling large-scale paintings are kind of like Kandinsky for the information age, is currently prepping a show of recent works produced at her Berlin studio for a major show at the Guggenheim (opens May 14). Her name, not coincidentally, appears a couple of times in our Spring Arts issue, which hits stands and webs on Wednesday.
