Sleater Kinney’s Corin Tucker to Release Solo Album

In an interview published in yesterday’s Portland Mercury, former Sleater kinney guitarist Corin Tucker spoke in great detail about her first solo album, tentatively scheduled for an October release on Kill Rock Stars. “It’s definitely more of a middle-aged mom record,” she said. “It’s not a record that a young person would write.” This sounds terrible, obviously, but she does cite The Lion and the Cobra as an influence, so that’s certainly promising. Tucker says there won’t be a full tour in support of the album, but a handful of dates on each coast, one of which we happily live on. [via Pitchfork]

  • She also namedropped the Raincoats and the Slits, which, when combined with Sinead makes pretty damn curious, actually.
