Last week I suggested you contribute to an exhibition in Bushwick (which you can still do), and today, if you’re willing to put in a tiny bit more effort, you can start work on a recut commercial for apexart’s fall show, and maybe win $2,000. The open call for video art asks that you pick “any broadcast commercial, cut it, dub it, repeat it, or flip it and make it art.” Submissions are due online by October 31, 2010, must be no more than 60 seconds long and may contain footage and audio not from the original ad. All accepted submissions will be presented at apexart and online from November 10—December 22, 2010, during which time they’ll be voted on by viewers. The top 5 vote-getters will be shown on an outdoor screen in Manhattan, with the favorite taking the aforementioned cash prize.
