Banning cigarette smoking in parks sounds crazy to me. As a non-smoker who’s always had a lot of smoking friends, I was pretty freaked way back when cigarettes got banned from bars (I actually went through withdrawal symptoms from the second-hand smoke I was missing); now, I guess, I kind of like not stinking of smoke the morning after. But parks, really? Where am I supposed to go now for that nice distant whiff of a freshly lit Marlboro Red playing olfactory counterpoint with far-off burning leaves and roasting chestnuts? WHERE, DAMN IT.
