NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1

When did the first weekend in November become the New York art world’s Spring Fashion Week equivalent, when quantitatively smaller but qualitatively far superior art fairs fill spaces and calendars that were given over to impossibly oversized events (read: Armory week) eight months hence? Who cares? The inter-borough combo of the wonderful NY Art Book Fair today through Sunday at MoMA PS1 (and SculptureCenter) in Queens, the Editions|Artists’ Book Fair through Sunday at the former DIA/X-Initiative building in Chelsea, Cannonball Press‘s affordable prints bonanza Prints Gone Wild at Secret Project Robot in Williamsburg, and ISCP’s open studios in Bushwick through Sunday make this the fall’s richest and, oddly, most affordable weekend of the year for art in the city, all helpfully spread between three boroughs so you’ll have time to de-saturate as you shuttle between fairs. Aaaaaaand go!

  • And as if you needed further incentive to attend this weekend’s NY Art Book Fair at PS1, here’s an item just received in The L’s art inbox from Journal magazine:
“Tomorrow 5pm David Blaine at the NY Art Book Fair”

Yep, motherfuckin’ David Blaine, doing his trademark brand of performance art, we presume. Don’t miss it.
