As you might’ve gathered from the album preview streaming on NPR (and confirmed by The L‘s forthcoming review), Dye It Blonde, the new album from Chicago youngins Smith Westerns, is quite good. Actually, it’s really good, assuming you like songs about girls and Girls, the band whose classic-rock influences and instrumental lushness appear here as well.
To celebrate its release next Tuesday, they’ll play a sold-out show at Glasslands with Ducktails, Bass Drum of Death and The Sundelles, and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away. Follow along at our new Twitter feed @LMagMusic and tweet at us “I WANT TO GOOOO” or “I would like to attend, please,” or any 140-character variation thereof for a chance to win. Then tomorrow we’ll close our eyes, spin around a few times, and point to a random winner on our computer screen, and you’ll feel as happy as Smith Westerns sound on this song. For anyone who isn’t as lucky, check this out (they’re giving away a pair of tickets too).
