Last year we noted the many limitations of Mural Locator, a user-generated graffiti and street art mapping site, but look what you can do with some clever appropriating of Google’s Street View and some corporate sponsorship: Street Art View.
Users identify, tag and attribute graffiti, murals and street art captured by Google’s car-mounted cameras, and explore others’ discoveries. It’s essentially Google’s Art Project for illegal art, and every once in a while Google actually catches an artist in the act (see Tian at work in the Meatpacking District above). (TheDailyWhat)
