It’s bike season—and bike wars season—which means it’s time for the seventh annual Bicycle Fetish Day in Williamsburg. On Saturday, Havemeyer Street between Hope and Grand streets will be car-free for the two-wheeler block party from noon to 6pm.
Don’t worry (or don’t get your hopes up), the word “fetish” is used not-so-literally here, with activities including a “Pimp Your Bike” photo booth and a bike pinata. Participating vendors peddling bike swag will include Vaya Bags, Outlier Clothing, Dargelos, Nona Varnado, Talia Lempert and others alongside bike advocacy groups such as Transportation Alternatives, Recycle-a-Bicycle and Bike New York. There will also be music, food, and an afterparty at City Reliquary. That is, assuming the NYPD doesn’t ticket all the assembled cyclists for not being in a bike lane.
