It’s cycling season in Brooklyn, which tends to coincide with crazy driving season (aka spring-summer), a fight for the streets that has claimed its second two-wheeler victim in the last two weeks. Yesterday at 6:30pm pizza deliveryman Luis Torres was killed in a hit-and-run at the corner of Fort Hamilton Parkway and 59th Street (pictured).
The Daily News reports that Torres, 22, who moved to Brooklyn two years ago from Ecuador with his wife, was working for Amnon’s Kosher Pizza on 13th Avenue at the time of the accident. He was hit by a Budget truck whose driver attempted to flee but was caught by cops a block away.
The 25-year-old box truck driver is expected to be charged. Torres is survived by his wife and their 2-year-old daughter.
