You want to ride your bicycle? You want to ride it where you like? Well, if you volunteer to help out with Pedal Power NYC, New York City’s first cycle-powered music festival, you’ll be riding an energy-generating bike in place, but it’s all for a good cause: Volume. Pedal Power is asking for bike-riding volunteers for their “Natural Ass” rehearsal sessions this week and weekend at 428 Troutman Street in Bushwick. It’s all in preparation for June 26, when Pedal Power will be “capturing and repurposing human power” onstage at the NYC Celebrates Water Festival in Union Square. And for the volunteers who really work their natural asses off, Pedal Power is offering five backstage passes. Performers include Cradle Duende, a “Klezmenco” (Klezmer + flamenco) band, groovy electronic artist Gordon Voidwell, Patrick Higgins, an electric guitar-wielding Bach-shredder, and many more. All you need to do is shoot Pedal Power an email with your availability (powerpedalers@pedalpowernyc.org) or drop on by. Now, put down those Cool Ranch Doritos® and hop on the rehearsal schedule.
