1. 5 Boro PicNYC on Governors’ Island
The kickoff food event on Governors’ Island is a two-day fest of twenty food stations, including restaurants Peels, Alobar and Jimmy’s No. 43. Jarlsberg Cheese is hosting a Grilled Cheese Cook-Off and Slow Food NYC, a Taco Challenge in individual tents to watch. As a pre-empt to later food events to take place on the island (such as Pig Island), the event looks to be a more low-key spectacle than those – and of course, last weekend’s GoogaMooga. Also, there will be several stands pouring Sixpoint beers throughout the picnic lawn.
