It’s Not Cool to Photoshop a Dick into a Woman’s Mouth, Even if You Disagree With Her Ideas

Because they have such progressive ideals, Hustler Magazine, in their “celebrity fantasy” section, has run a photoshopped picture of conservative political commentator and attractive woman S.E. Cupp with a dick in her mouth. Their explanation as to why is about as charming as you would expect:

S.E. Cupp is a lovely young lady who read too much Ayn Rand in high school and ended up joining the dark side. Cupp, an author and media commentator who often shows up on Fox News programs, is undeniably cute. But her hotness is diminished when she espouses dumb ideas like defunding Planned Parenthood. Perhaps the method pictured here is Ms. Cupp’s suggestion for avoiding an unwanted pregnancy. [The Blaze]

So basically, she should shut up and use that pretty mouth to suck cock. Cute! That is very helpful! Larry Flynt’s response is his usual “I’m a First Amendment crusader” bullshit, which, I guess if you expect anything else from Larry Flynt you’re going to be waiting a while. I’m sure that he is legally absolved of any responsibility by the disclaimer he ran with the photo, which was basically like “LOL BONERZ”.

Now you guys know me. I love porn. But this kind of behavior is shitty and abusive. Creating a porn parody like Who’s Nailin’ Palin is funny. Clearly, none of those actresses would ever be mistaken for the people they’re portraying, and it’s silly and stupid. A parody.

I’m not sure how photoshopping a dick onto an actual picture of a not-very-famous conservative woman is “satire” exactly, given that it’s not funny and also doesn’t satirize anything. But the sub-4chan-level conflation of humor and assholerly isn’t really the issue. This whole thing speaks to a bigger ideological problem on the left. There has long been a faction of straight, white, cis male “progressives” who give lip service to things like feminism and anti-racism, but as soon as someone like Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann shows up, they’re leaping out of their seats to shit all over them in gross, sexist ways. It’s like they refuse to understand that respecting women means respecting all women, not just the ones you agree with. It seems to go along with how they always want “diversity”, but not at the decision-making level.

Anyway, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that Larry Flynt thinks he respects women. But clearly enough somebodies at Hustler thought their readers would find this funny and cool that they ran it. Yesterday, conservatives claimed that feminists on the left wouldn’t speak up for Cupp the way they did for Sandra Fluke. If you’ve been following this story on Twitter, you can see that that’s not the case—my timeline has been flooded with women calling bullshit on this thing. But when Glenn Beck says this is a more honest version of the sexism the left has thrown at conservative women over the years, I can’t say I disagree. And the day you are forced to agree with Glenn Beck about something is a very dark day indeed.
