Your Brief Guide to This Weekend’s Lit Crawl

After you’ve gorged yourself irresponsibly at the Great Googa Mooga this Saturday, you’ll need a little movement and, of course, a lot of drinking to help burn away that food festival pot belly you’ve acquired (Drinking does that, right?). The Brooklyn Lit Crawl is your answer, with stellar readings from great Brooklyn authors and presses. Shared with us by San Francisco literary hooligans Litquake, the crawl will be hosted mostly in Cobble Hill, and the full schedule includes stops at 10+ watering holes in the area. Just about all of it looks fantastic, but if you really need to hear the highlights, we’re especially excited about:

Britain Live! A Liars’ League Salon
@Zombie Hut, 273 Smith Street, 6-6:45pm
Granta magazine fiction gets turned into barroom mini-plays for lit crawlers, including a story by Mark Haddon, who you’ll remember from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

Tin House Presents: Science Fair
The Brazen Head, 228 Atlantic Avenue, 7-7:45pm
Like your classic local bar’s trivia night, themed to Tin House’s Science Fair issue, with the alluring promise that they might “blow some stuff up.”

The Coffin Factory Presents: The Dirty Parts
Boat Bar, 175 Smith Street
No boozy literary event would be complete without a touch of seductive wordplay. Satisfy your literature fetish at this event featuring readings from Steve Danziger and Justin Taylor.

And, in the event that you don’t know how to read, there’s always the reading-less afterparty hosted at 61 Local starting 8pm. Get there.
