You read that headline right. I’m The L Magazine‘s new art editor and boy do I like news. Expect us to break a lot of it over here. We’ll also let you know what art events are worth your time, who’s doing stupid shit you can skip, and give you the earliest links to art memes you NEED TO KNOW. Awesome.
The L Magazine art section expands Art Fag City’s relationship with the L Magazine. AFC contributors Corinna Kirsch and Whitney Kimball will now also contribute to The L Magazine. AFC Editor-in-Chief Will Brand will contribute to the Art Fag City column. In short, you’ll be seeing a lot more art talk around here, by some of the city’s most respected writers. And it’s not just me who thinks that. Will Brand is one of thirty international professionals named today in ArtINFO’s article The 30-and-Under Crowd: The Art World’s Most Influential Figures. Paddy Johnson (that’s me) was the first blogger to receive a Creative Capital Writer’s Grant in 2008 and was nominated for Rob Pruitt Art Award in 2010.
I mention all this to, yes, toot my own horn and those of others, but also to tell any L Magazine reader with even a hint of interest in art that it’s about to get more interesting around here.
So let’s get this thing started. Yee-haw!
Great news. Could the L Magazine be the new artnet?
Yay for more art in the L…but boo on it being more Paddy Johnson/Art Fag City. If there were ever people “doing stupid shit you can skip” it’s generally them. They have wretched tastes and worse writing. Ugh.
