Life is pain. Anyone who says differently isnt waiting in the beer line.

  • Life is pain. Anyone who says differently isn’t waiting in the beer line.

This morning looked a little bit dreary, but have no fear readers; SummerScreen is on for tonight!

So join us for tonight’s screening of The Princess Bride with a very special introduction by Prince Humperdinck himself, Chris Sarandon. And come early, because thanks to Todd P. on behalf of SHOWPAPER, we’re bringing you live music before the movie even starts. This week, noise-techno-pop band Extreme Animals will be playing along with experimental synth outfit Soft Circle, and fuzzy psych rockers PC Worship.

You’ll find us at McCarren Park on the corner of Bedford Ave. and N. 12th St. (right in front of the tennis courts). Sixpoint will provide $4 beers and we’ll have plenty of provisions on hand, courtesy of our food trucks. We have giveaways too! We’ll be raffling off a brand new bike from Ride Brooklyn; just find one of our beloved interns and give them your name and e-mail address to enter. Plus, head to the Go Watch It table to enter to win a copy of The Princess Bride on blu-ray.

And not to get ahead of ourselves, but let’s talk next week, shall we? We’ve found the winner of our Reverbnation contest! You suggested the bands, and we picked our favorite; pint-sized metal-head tweens (seriously!) Xero Gravity will be performing next week at our screening of Top Gun.

Doors open at 6, bands start at 6:30, and Wallace Shawn will be on the big screen by sundown. See you there!
