For unknown reasons, a late-night porter at Dizzy’s Diner in Park Slope was stabbed during his shift over the weekend, Brooklyn Paper reports.
Guadalupe Morales was outside the restaurant cleaning around 2:00 am on Saturday, when a stranger slashed him in the neck, back and chest, police say, before running into Prospect Park.
The suspect has yet to be found, and in the meantime, co-workers are raising funds to help Morales, who is now in stable condition, with his medical funds.
“Lupe is one of the sweetest guys here,” said a Dizzy’s manager. “There’s always a smile on his face and he’s an incredibly hard worker.”
While more concrete fundraising efforts get underway, there is currently a donation jar set up in the restaurant for Morales.
Police are still searching for the slasher, “a 20-year-old wearing a black tank top and jeans.”
