A Literary Pub Crawl: 10 Books to Read in 10 Brooklyn Bars

Dreamtigers, Jorge Luis Borges
La Vara

“Leaving behind the babble of the plaza, I enter the Library. I feel, almost physically, the gravitation of the books, the enveloping serenity of order, time magically dessicated and preserved.”

Borges was meant to be read at a bar, so that on occasion, you can read passages out loud to someone (anyone!) next to you, and force them to talk to you about what it all means. And there is no better companion to Borges than a glass—or even a bowl—of tempranillo and a plate of albondigas.

What to drink: A Spanish red. The wine list here is excellent, and I’m partial to tempranillo, but do what feels right for you. You do you.
