4. Snooky’s Pub
We interviewed Paul Auster a few years ago, just chatting about Brooklyn, and we asked him what bars he liked. “There used to be Snooky’s! I used to like to go there. But that’s gone… A lot of old people, you know, the real old-time Park Slope drunks used to hang out in Snooky’s. I always had a fondness for that place.” Now it’s a nice Italian restaurant.

  • I can’t believe The Gallery on McDonald avenue that used to be around since the late 30’s or early 40’s didn’t make the cut! Great dive bar, great bar period! Gone over a year now. And yes dive bars are a thing of the past thanks to hipsters and yuppies! Blahhhhh! Very sad whats happening to Brooklyn.
