Well, that was fast: following last weekend’s in-store performances by Television, the newly-opened Williamsburg branch of Rough Trade has canceled and re-located several upcoming shows in response to neighborhood noise complaints.

The store tweeted the following updates yesterday afternoon:

Co-owner Stephen Godfroy also told Bedford & Bowery, “In essence, we’re making sure our incredible live PA system is equaled by incredible acoustic remediation. Achieving this parity is our focus right now. During this process, all amplified live performances at the store are ‘on hold,’ but we aim to resume normal service (as it were), as soon as possible.”

An unfortunate speed bump (and a little mind boggling to think that anyone living in Williamsburg even tries to put up a fight about noise complaints anymore), but then, if they put in the effort to come all the way from London to set up shop, we have a feeling they’ll do whatever they need to do to get this taken care of.
