Of course, the best movie ever made about snow, Edward Scissorhands, would also have the best movie-soundtrack piece about it: this, which accompanies Winona Ryder’s reverie in falling ice chips. Notice Elfman’s use of the high-pitch choir, reappropriating the Tchaikovsky motif to a new era to demonstrate that regardless of time, archetypal women’s and children’s voices, manipulated just so, sound like snow—soft, delicate, and pretty.
